Quality Digital Material in School Distance Education utilizing Artificial Intelligence tools: A teaching Scenario in History Lesson
Abstract
This paper investigates the quality of digital teaching materials in distance education of literature courses, with emphasis on History in the first grade of High School. Despite the widespread use of digital tools during the pandemic period, few studies focus on the pedagogically informed design of digital content by philologists. This article focuses on this research gap by presenting an illustrative teaching scenario entitled “The Founding and Organization of Rome”, which utilizes artificial intelligence (AI) tools, enhancing students' digital literacy, self-regulated learning and critical thinking. The analysis of the scenario is based on qualitative criteria of educational material and is compared with findings from Greek and international literature. The results show that the integration of innovative tools with a clear pedagogical background can enhance the quality of distance learning. The study highlights the need for institutional support for philologists in the design of digital content and presents directions for future research.
