Abstract

This study focuses on the design, development, and evaluation of digital educational material for distance English language teaching using the CLIL (Content and Language Integrated Learning) approach, targeting fifth-grade primary school students. The material integrates interdisciplinary elements from Literature and History and is based on the polymorphic educational material model proposed by West (1996) and Lionarakis (2001). Additionally, the development of multimedia applications followed Mayer’s (2001) principles of multimedia learning. The material was developed using H5P, an open-source HTML5 tool, and integrated into the Chamilo platform, with the support of supplementary tools such as Padlet, Learning Apps, Jigsaw Planet, and Word Wall. Evaluation was conducted through qualitative research involving English language teachers in primary education, focusing on the pedagogical appropriateness of the material, its adherence to multimedia learning principles, and its alignment with the core components of the CLIL framework. Suggestions for enhancing learning effectiveness were also gathered.
