Abstract

This paper reports on the pilot implementation of an innovative instructional scenario in kindergarten, integrating Artificial Intelligence (AI) applications to foster creativity, empathy, and collaborative learning. Entitled “The Robot Who Was Looking for Friends”, the scenario was developed within the framework of distance education and aimed at cultivating soft skills and 21st-century competences in early childhood. The pilot was conducted with a group of ten children (N = 10), aged 4–6 years. Over the course of three sessions, participants engaged with AI tools—including interactive storytelling, image generation from descriptions, and chatbot dialogues—expressing spontaneous emotions and ideas while actively participating in collaborative tasks. Pedagogical observations indicated that the sensitive and well-guided integration of AI can enrich the learning experience, even within preschool contexts. The study contributes to the discourse on AI as a driver of pedagogical innovation and raises critical questions regarding its potential applications across diverse educational environments.
