Abstract
Distance teaching of Science Education (SE) remains a challenge, as opportunities for experimentation are often limited, interaction is reduced, and the active participation of students becomes more difficult. This paper presents a proposal for an instructional intervention that combines Arduino, Arduino IoT (Internet of Things) Cloud, and Generative Artificial Intelligence (GenAI) tools. The proposal is part of an ongoing doctoral dissertation. The intervention is currently at the design stage for pilot implementation, aiming to cultivate scientific thinking, enhance technological literacy, and develop TPACK (Technological Pedagogical Content Knowledge) skills among Pre-Service Teachers (PSTs). The methodology is structured around a five-phase Learning and Teaching Sequence (LTS): (a) familiarization with the equipment, (b) experiment design, (c) execution in a home-based environment, (d) data analysis supported by GenAI, and (e) reflective microteaching design. The pilot implementation is expected to capture the effectiveness of the intervention, document challenges, and highlight good practices for the integration of Arduino and GenAI tools in STEM teaching within distance learning environments.
