Web Based Training, Possibilities and Development Conditions Case Study: Web Based in –service Training for the Greek Primary and Secondary Education Teachers by the Interorthodox Center of the Greek Church

Abstract

The on line education has evolved dynamically and has been linked to the implementation of the latest learning theories and principles of lifelong learning. In order to be effective, the online applications of teaching and learning, they must meet certain quality standards and operate in the frame of the target group needs. Moreover, they should include a range of teaching approaches and practical applications. The Interorthodox Center of the Greek Church under the auspices of the Pedagogical Institute, took the initiative in preparing a training program for primary and secondary education teachers on issues related to new technologies and the latest pedagogical theories. The training program follows the basic principles and methodological applications of elearning, includes 3 stages of development and it is estimated that more than 3000 teachers will participate.
