K-12 distance education in North America The case of USA and Canada
Abstract
K-12 distance learning has been offering educational opportunities to students all over the world for over a century. Over the last 20 years there has been a significant growth of K-12 distance learning programs for reasons that lie far beyond the ones that justify its establishment. In the present report the bibliographic research carried out focuses on the K-12 distance learning programs in North America (USA and Canada). In these countries there has been rapid growth of technology and virtual schools. K-12 distance learning is fully established and operates either as a supplement to the existing traditional schooling system or independently supporting a high number of students.
