Abstract
In 1968, Robert Rosenthal and Lenore Jacobson published their experiment, the known Oak School, and introduced the Pygmalion Effect. Since then various studies have taken place concerning the existence of Pygmalion Effect in class and its impact on learning. In this study, after a literature review of several empirical studies concerning the existence of Pygmalion Effect in typical education as well as in adult education, we present briefly the basic points of criticism that has been made. Thereafter, we present the basic mechanisms of this phenomenon in order to make suggestions that could meliorate/improve teaching in both typical and adult education and eliminate negative impact on student’s learning.
