Educational techniques towards a positive climate in distance learning: Hellenic Open University postgraduate students’ views
Abstract
In distance learning, during the last years, educators and students use many educational techniques on a great scale to act individually or collectively, get motivated and act independently towards a heuristic way of self-learning. These techniques are distinguished into those that are implemented by educators, students, student groups either using exclusively technological means or not. In the present study, educational techniques that contribute to climate improvement in distance learning, leading to the formation of a learning community are probed. Moreover, we describe the qualitative research that was carried out on students of MSc “Education and Technologies in Distance Teaching and Learning Systems- Education Sciences” and “Master in Teaching Natural Sciences” of Hellenic Open University, where we examined energetic, educational techniques and their impact in positive climate setup in these MSc. This research showed that in a positive climate, students get more motivated, there is a higher level of interaction among the group’s members, while collaboration and cooperative learning are increased.
