Exploring the training needs of teachers in primary school during the pandemic of Covid-19: Opinions and practices on distance learning and education and how these could contribute to their professional and personal development.
Abstract
During the last 3 years, the planet is dealing with Covid-19 and the effects of it in innumerable areas of human life. This study aims to explore the opinions and practices of teachers in Primary Education, on issues related to lifelong learning and training through distance learning programs. This study aims to identify those factors that contribute or not, to the participation of teachers in distance learning and education programs, as well as the benefits stemming from the participation of teachers in terms of their personal and professional development. In this research, a closed-ended questionnaire is used, where the results demonstrate that teachers in Primary School, consider that distance learning and education contribute to their own professional and personal development. They also believe that various distance education programs help them adapt to the new challenges and conditions. Finally, they are of the opinion that the factors of participation or not in distance education programs are consistent with prior studies.
In the end, reflections and suggestions are made, so that some elements could be corrected, with results that will concern a much larger educational population (with Secondary Education), as well as a larger study and comparison between public and private school.
