Abstract

The temporary suspension of lifelong learning in Greek Higher Education Institutions   due to the coronavirus (Covid-19), in the spring semester of 2020, created previously unknown data in the academic community. This survey study investigates the degree of satisfaction of second year students of the Department of Nursing at the University of Thessaly with the quality (including lecturers, teaching methodology, technological support, overall experience) of the delivered synchronous and asynchronous distance education through the platform MS-TEAMS and e-class, during the period of quarantine to ensure public health. For this reason, the researcher constructed a five-point Likert scale questionnaire (very much, a lot, moderately, a little, not at all), which was given later (March 2022) to 120 second year students of the Nursing Department of the University of Thessaly. The results showed that although the students are satisfied to a large extent (55.4% very much) for the overall experience which they consider unprecedented, however to a large extent (57.5% not at all) they answered that they do not think that the distance education can replace in-person education.
