Cooperative learning in the framework of supplementary environmental distant learning in the network of primary schools of Corfu.

Abstract
This paper is a study of the possibility to cultivate collaborative distant learning through a supplementary program of environmental education in primary school network with the use of technologies of information and communication (TIC). More specifically, the aim of this paper was to investigate the specifications and the conditions for the growth and creation of a distant cooperative network of schools. This research was realized so much by bibliographical examination for the cooperative distant school learning, as much as by an empirical research where the effective functioning of collaborative learning in network of schools was studied, complementary to conventional daily teaching practice. This research was qualitative and in order to collect the requisite data, a range of research tools were used: participating observation (diary of activity and study, observation worksheet), interviews (individual and group) and questionnaire. In the program which was based on the use of educational software ‘Captain SOS, his friends and the moving island’, 128 pupils of the fifth and sixth grade participated and eight teachers from six primary schools in Corfu. From the conclusions we realize that the application of these programs is feasible and will lend new content and quality in the school order and will support substantially the instructive methods in the classroom and in the network of schools, particularly the cooperative learning under concrete pedagogical conditions.
