Abstract
The use of technology in education has a very important role by enabling the flexible development of curricula to help students by giving everyone the right to participate as equals in the learning experience. The review of education and the redefinition of educational objectives focus on learning instead of teaching to learning and the autonomy of learning. ICT can support this shift, as long as integrated into the framework of learning, since they guarantee powerful tools for that change. This study explores the information and communication technologies (ICT) and its association with two parameters of the learning process: metacognition and learning styles. This literature review highlights the necessity of ICT engagement in education.
