Abstract
The purpose of this research is to investigate the emotions experienced by learners of the Hellenic Open University (HOU) during their studies. Furthermore, the factors that create positive or negative feelings to the learners are investigated, such as Information and Communication Technology (ICT), group meetings and written assignments. Data collection was carried out via a suitable questionnaire and semi-structured interviews. The sample of the research consisted of undergraduate and post-graduate students of the Hellenic Open University in particular 122 students answered the questionnaire and a another four (4) post-graduate students participated in the interviews. Finally, this paper confirms the dominant place occupied by emotions in the learning process, a place that was until recently entirely attributed to reason.
