Εξ αποστάσεως εξετάσεις στο ΕΑΠ: Διερεύνηση αναγκών των Συντονιστών/τριών της Σχολής Ανθρωπιστικών Επιστημών την εποχή της Τεχνητής Νοημοσύνης
Abstract
This study focuses on the needs of Course Coordinators at the School of Humanities of the Hellenic Open University, examining their roles, challenges, and future prospects within the changing landscape of distance education, with particular emphasis on the impact of Artificial Intelligence (AI). By combining the analysis of minutes of the Study Program Committee, and semi-structured interviews with Coordinators and Program Directors, the research provides a clear picture of key issues related to the organization and coordination of examinations, the use of AI tools, and the need for continuous training and institutional support. The findings reveal that coordinators are required to operate in a complex environment of increasing demands, where AI emerges both as a challenge to academic integrity and as an opportunity for the modernization of assessment practices. The study highlights the necessity of a clear institutional and legal framework to address cases of academic misconduct, the reduction of student numbers per course, and the ongoing professional development of coordinators in pedagogical and technological innovations. Overall, contributes to the dialogue on building a fair, reliable, and future-oriented assessment system in distance education.
