Ελληνικά
Abstract

As the landscape of Secondary Education continues to evolve, the student-centered approach is gaining prominence as an innovative educational paradigm that focuses on active student participation, autonomy and personalized learning experiences. This approach shifts the focus from traditional teaching to a model where students actively participate in their learning journey, cultivating deeper understanding, responsibility and critical thinking skills. The purpose of this research is to explore teachers’ perceptions regarding the implementing the student-centered approach with an emphasis on personalized learning. The qualitative research methodology was chosen to be implemented in the research. The qualitative data were generated from semi-structured interviews with ten Secondary Education teachers, followed by the content analysis. The findings revealed that there is no consensus among the participants regarding the conceptualization of the student-centered approach, however, they agree that the student-centered approach enhances students’ motivation for learning and academic performance, adapting to individual learning styles and promoting collaborative learning environments. Participants recognize the transformation in the role of the teacher and suggest that schools should incorporate more flexible and innovative curriculums that respond to the needs and learning styles of students and harmonize with modern technological advancements.
