Pathways of graduates of the MSc in ETA - HOU: Empowerment, digital skills, and distance professional development
Abstract
This study explores the professional trajectory and personal empowerment of graduates from the Master’s Program “Education and Technologies in Distance Teaching and Learning Systems – Educational Sciences” (ETA) at the Hellenic Open University. Through a panel discussion with five alumni, four key dimensions are highlighted: professional development, digital skills acquisition, personal empowerment, and well-being. Particular emphasis is placed on the role of the Alumni Network, which operates as a community of practice, offering continuous support, collaborative opportunities, and a framework for lifelong learning. The findings indicate that the ETA program serves as a catalyst for holistic development, strengthening professional identity and responding to the demands of 21st-century skills and the challenges posed by Artificial Intelligence. Despite the limitations of a small sample size, the study provides valuable insights into the significance of alumni networks in distance postgraduate education.
