Abstract

This paper examines the dynamic interconnection between intercultural education, the teaching of Greek as a second language, and open and distance education, highlighting their role in shaping inclusive learning environments. The theoretical framework outlines the fundamental principles of intercultural pedagogy, approaches to teaching Greek as a second language, and the pedagogical models of digital learning. Particular emphasis is placed on the intersection of these three domains, which leads to innovative teaching practices that foster language development, collaboration, and respect for diversity.

The practical dimension of the paper is illustrated through a case study in which a digital storytelling program was implemented with adolescent refugees and migrants. Students created personal narratives by combining language, images, and cultural elements, while the evaluation was based on a qualitative method using an observation sheet. The findings revealed substantial progress in oral use of Greek, the development of intercultural competences, and the strengthening of a sense of belonging.

In conclusion, it is argued that distance education can serve as a genuine space for building intercultural bridges, offering equitable access, identity empowerment, and educational innovation in a society that is becoming increasingly multicultural.
