Artificial Intelligence and Student Mental Health - Challenges, Prospects in the Digital Educational Environment Challenges, Prospects in the Digital Educational Environment
Abstract
This qualitative study explores Greek educators' perceptions regarding the utilization of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in supporting student mental health, focusing on the detection and management of school-related anxiety, particularly within the context of Open and Distance Learning (ODL). Findings highlight the pervasive nature of student anxiety and recognize AI as a powerful tool for personalized learning and early intervention. However, significant ethical concerns are raised regarding privacy, data security, and the risk of depersonalization. The study underscores the urgent need for a robust institutional framework and targeted professional development for educators, proposing a hybrid model integrating AI with human intervention to ensure students' holistic well-being in the contemporary educational environment.
