Abstract

The paper refers to the contribution of art and technology through experiential workshops for the activation of transforming learning, in relation to the issue of accepting diversity. The workshops begin by completing an online questionnaire with “bipolar” questions, in which respondents are asked to categorise a series of concepts such as 'cross', 'crescent', 'economic migrants', 'illegal immigrants', 'Greek', 'Turkish', '"Pope", etc in one of the categories " We" and "Others". Then the participants are divided into two groups, each one watching a different film. As the two movies present the dipole "We" and "Others" from a different point of view, the two groups are then brought together in a fruitful and constructive confrontation to each other, which activates the transforming learning. At this stage, the results of the "bipolar" questionnaire are publicised and the participants, through experiential workshops, are given additional information related to the bipolar questions, which tend to change their perceptions. Finally, participants are asked to answer an online questionnaire, which in fact summarises the results of the workshops and illustrates the views and believes that have been transformed.

The main conclusions refer to the astounding change caused when the participants realise that things are not always as they seem to be and that there are many aspects of reality.
