Abstract
It is obvious that in modern times computers play a prominent role in the educational process. The advantages and alternatives offered are varied and benefit both the students, who are invited to explore new sources of knowledge, and their teachers, who, provided that they have enriched their technocratic horizons, are able to integrate computer assisted learning techniques in their teaching practice.
Innovative ventures such as the "Harvard Family Research Project" have proved the significant contribution of computer systems in fostering cooperation between school and family. Within the classroom environment, new technology programs and software promote the learners’ involvement in various educational activities, which facilitate the teacher and awaken the students’ imagination. Therefore, it becomes clear that the sensible use of the computer in the school community brings a wealth of perspectives and capabilities and paves the way for the open- alternative education of the future.
