Abstract
This paper presents the design, implementation and evaluation of the Summer School entitled «1st Adolescents’ Summer School: Train Brain», which took place in July 2012 and addressed to students of high school in Achaia Prefecture. The Summer School «Train Brain» is the first action in the context of cooperation between the Laboratory of Educational Material and Educational Methodology of H.O.U. and the Directorate of Secondary Education of Achaia Prefecture. During the Summer School, the participating students had the opportunity to work in an educational, research and professional environment, to de engaged in experiential laboratory activities, to receive theoretical knowledge but also to develop cutting skills cooperating with each other and with the research staff the of ECOMET. This action is an innovative approach to the institution of Summer School, the diversity which lies in the experiential laboratory character of the students’ activities and the cooperation in practice between the members of the research staff of tertiary education with secondary school students. The findings of the evaluation showed that the implementation of such a model can deliver and support students to learn and gain experience in a context of self-motivation and team effort moving in academic communities and motivated by their personal need for learning.
