Abstract
This paper introduces ‘Models for Professional Development & Trainingthat concern ‘professionalism’ and the professional development of educators, and express radically different epistemological approaches and cognitive interests. A Distance Critical-Reflective Model is presented, involving the integration of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) in the educational process, by way of a training and research oriented didactic activity. This constitutes a proposition that promotes Polymorphic Education, as it is not restricted to the space-time element of Distance Education, but rather defines the cognitive and value attributes of the didactic content, the didactic framework in which it takes place, as well as the media it employs. The model predicates the philosophical and didactic framework of emancipatory cognitive interest, is based on the Critical-Constructivist and Critical- Reflective theories, and promotes collaborative didactic methods in authentic learning environments
