Tutor’s role and the development of his support in distance learning

Abstract

The teaching role in Distance Learning is complicated and differs a lot from that in Conventional Education. Enriching the educational process, in a collaborative environment, the tutors’ demands and labor’s pressure will be multiplied. The new teaching role’s approach, the design and development of a support and encouragement mechanism as well, are the main goals of this research. In this article we are going to present the literature review and the research’s innovation and importance. The objectives are, the teaching role wide area’s existing situation in Distance Learning to be impressed, a collaborative environment and additional polymorphic material to be developed, a support and encouragement mechanism to be built. The qualitative design of the environment’s procedures goals to the active engagement of the students in the learning process and the collaborative learning support from the community of practice development are the main axis of this research which will be conducted in Hellenic Open University the next three years.
