Abstract
Sharable Content Object Reference Model (SCROM) is a set of standards and specifications for the development, the packaging and the distribution of high quality educational material, whenever and wherever this is required. In the present paper a short reference to the free tool of CourseLab is made. CourseLab helps create learning objects in a SCROM form. The aim is to feature the effective utilization of IT in the educational practice through educational applications that rely on the designing and developing of e-courses by using writing tools. Also, the learners are encouraged to actively participate and gain their autonomy in the learning process as they can decide when and how much they wish to learn. Firstly, in the paper, the term of ‘e-learning’ is mentioned and, then, “The Importance of the Olive Tree in Ancient Greece”, a learning scenario addressing sixth grade primary school students, is developed. The presentation of the unit constitutes of 3 chapters and 3 individual tests. At the end, there is a final assessment test for the learners. The course is realised with the application method and, in particularly, with theory and exercises through an elearning software based on the ADDIE model.
