Using Experiments, Simulations and Chatbots in Primary Education Science to Teach Acids, Salts, Bases
Abstract
This article focusses on ways of teaching acids, salts and bases in the last class of a Greek primary education school. We will try to write down how pupils cope with the acquisition of the new knowledge when experiments from the schoolbook of Science and selected simulations are presented to them and when they have the chance to ask a chatbot. Our aim is to examine what each one of these means of teaching offer to the new knowledge acquisition. We will also conclude to some remarkable notices of what a future scientific literacy will be. Chatbots offered the opportunity to discuss validity and credibility of science knowledge in classroom and to integrate history of acids and their discovery. We also integrate creative writing to help our pupils understand the connection between everyday life and science.
