Teachers’ views and difficulties concerning control of variables strategy: Α case study in primary level education

Abstract

Control of Variables Strategy (CVS) is a substantial aspect of inquiry and inquiry-based learning. This paper aims to present the design of a questionnaire, which was based on the literature about teachers’ views and difficulties concerning the CVS method. It also aims to provide a summary report of the results of a research regarding in-service elementary teachers (N=84) views on the CVS method. From the results of the research, we found that in-service elementary teachers need varying support to achieve a high degree of understanding of all four CVS sub-skills.
