Abstract

Scope of this article  is to assess the functioning and development of the Hellenic Open University from its inception to date , with case study the Graduate study Program PSP 50 - '' Environmental  planning of cities and buildings'', identifying dysfunctions problems and difficulties in over 15 years of operation and issues for improvement and juxtaposition of  proposals. The Hellenic Open University combining modern technology with the appropriate human resources, distant learning, lifelong learning, research and innovation at many levels (flexibility, time and space utilization, etc.), is called,  by built experience to date, to act on observations and recommendations from current students and former graduates,  faculty and teacher collaborators - Greek literature and foreign language, printed and teaching material- and mainly based on relevant research questionnaire of sufficient sample size survey that was held in Greece in recent years , given the existing socio-economic crisis of Greece, to set new long term goals and to increase its credibility, prestige and competitiveness.
