Η Συμβολή Του Προσκυνήματος Στη Βιώσιμη Ανάπτυξη. Η Περίπτωση Της Ιεράς Μονής Γενεθλίου Της Θεοτόκου «Πελαγίας»
Abstract
Pilgrimage paths have existed since ancient times. The destination of these routes was a sacred place or a pilgrimage site. In Greece, there are many such routes. One of them leads to the Holy Monastery of the Birth of the Theotokos "Pelagia" in the village of Akrefnio in Viotia. The purpose of this project was to study the phenomenon of the pilgrimage and its socio-economic dimension. The aim was to establish whether the pilgrims on this particular route were able to help in the sustainable development of the pilgrimage site. Methodologically, the issue was approached by a questionnaire and field observations. The results were that the pilgrims could contribute to the monastery’s socio-economic viability and they were influenced by the nuns’ positive attitude towards them.
