Abstract
This paper aims to reflect on the use of modern online tools available in free and open access to facilitate educational goals and technological literacy for flexible blended learning in language teaching. It introduces the use of 3D virtual worlds and educational machinima in combination with a Learning Management System, applications and an online channel to promote participation, creativity, and consolidation in foreign language education. The purpose of the paper is to draw useful conclusions based on my experience as English language educator and trainer of foreign language teachers in 3D virtual worlds. These innovative methods encourage participant efficiency and productivity in homeschooling, Educational Institutions and LLL. Through a holistic approach and an exploratory, active learning process, learners are provided with motivation for empirical learning, opportunities for creativity, socialisation and memorable theme-based examples in the target language, both in distance learning curricula and in the lifelong learning process.
