Two-way Transformations of Pedagogical and Architectural Discourse: Designing the mobile science lab and demonstration room in “NOESIS” Center

Abstract
A system of separate tiered platforms consists of planes that seem to float in space. The environment transforms itself depending on the viewpoint from which ones discovers it, thus capturing the interest of the children’s eyes, creating a sense of surprise and urging the child into ever exploring anew the objects that make up the space. Engraved symbols from the world of science on the surface of the seats create a virtual keyboard in space, and encourage children to assume roles in an interactive theatrical game. The design of the place creates challenges for all age groups, contributing to their physical and intellectual development. At a setup and materiality level, the mobile science lab in NOESIS provides children with stimuli, introduces a variety of kinetic challenges and induces experimentation, while ensuring a safe environment. Following the design process up to the final result, the presentation explores the complex course through which pedagogical positions transform into syntactical and morphological principles of architectural design.
