Abstract

This study investigates the impact of a sequence of lessons about forces on students’ aspects of practice related to designing solutions. Instructional materials about forces were developed and applied to 20 students of Gymnasium. Data collection was carried out through questionnaires and worksheets. From the analysis of the data, it emerged that, through this sequence of lessons, it is possible to improve the following aspects of practice related to designing solutions: defining a problem, specifying criteria and constraints, designing and making a model/prototype, and deciding to accept or reject a model/prototype.
