Abstract

This paper examines the utilization of a science center as an context for the preparation of preservice primary school teachers in the light of the development of their science teaching identity. The 15 preservice primary teachers who participated in the research developed inquiry-based activities which they implemented in the context of organized school visits at a science center. The collected data reveal the affordances of out-of-school learning settings for the construction of science teaching identity as well as the aspects of the emerging science teaching identity that are strengthened.
