Abstract
In this paper we present a "hands on" approach to support the teaching of recombinant DNA technology by constructing plasmid models using inexpensive materials. We describe the process, the teaching objectives as well worksheets for 3 different recombinant plasmid constructions. The construction of the models and especially the procedures that students will follow, are expected to contribute in an illustrative way to a deeper understanding of the relevant processes and to help clarify details not mentioned in the textbook. It is an activity that optimizes learning and does not require special equipment.
