Undergraduate primary school education students' alternative ideas about the water footprint

Abstract

Human activities consume and pollute large amounts of water. The Water Footprint (WF) methodology can help individuals and governments to better manage water resources. The goal of this study was to explore undergraduate Primary School Education students’ alternative perceptions about the WF. Survey data were collected through an online questionnaire, comprised of 9 items, that was completed by 64 students. Students' responses were subjected to content analysis, with the unit of analysis being the unit of meaning. Content analysis revealed many alternative perceptions and misconceptions of students regarding the conceptualization of WF.
