Abstract

Gamification in recent years has attracted the interest of researchers and educators, especially in science education, where students often express negative emotions. However, the effectiveness of gamification has produced mixed results, leading researchers to explore adaptive gamification as an alternative approach. In this study, we created and tested an adaptive gamification environment for six classes of 3rd-grade students in primary school. The findings of our study demonstrate promising results in terms of increased motivation and student engagement. This research contributes valuable insights into the relatively new and limited field of adaptive gamification research in science education.
