Abstract

Focusing beyond exploring young children's ideas and representations about clouds and rain, this study provides a framework for understanding how these ideas and representations can be transferred and formalized into a conceptually relational system and what the conceptual steps in this system are. The findings of the study contribute to the identification of a cohesive and supportive educational environment for teaching and learning about clouds and rain in preschool settings, adding to the literature around precursor models in early childhood science education.
