Abstract

Augmented reality (AR) technology has emerged as a powerful tool in the preservation, interpretation, and dissemination of cultural heritage. This paper provides a comprehensive overview of the applications and impact of augmented reality in the context of cultural heritage mainly for the event “Marble Sustainability Matters II”. By seamlessly blending virtual content with real-world environments, AR enhances visitor experiences, facilitates historical education, and enables the exploration of long-lost civilizations. This paper explores the potential benefits and challenges of implementing AR in cultural heritage, while discussing future directions for research and development.
