Development, implementation, evaluation of an environmental trail with QR codes in the Chania municipal garden
Abstract
Τhe development, implementation and evaluation of an environmental education trail within the Chania Municipal garden with the use of QR codes is described. It was developed according to the principles of place-based education and urban environmental education to promote ecological place meaning and the appreciation of the municipal garden as a learning environment. The trail was pilot tested and its final version was implemented with 6 primary school student teachers of the Department of Primary Education of the University of Crete which come from, or live in Chania. The evaluation of the trail was based on semi- structured interviews in order to understand the participants’ experience from the program, its effect on their sense of place and their views on the use of technology and the method of environmental trail.
