Investigation of the impact of open schooling projects on students’ self-efficacy, intrinsic motivation, and civic awareness
Abstract
The present study aimed to investigate how the Open Schooling approach was enacted when designing and implementing 126 school projects, and whether the participation of students (n=567) impacted on their self-efficacy, intrinsic motivation and civic awareness. The qualitative analysis yielded five Action Pathways, which varied either in terms of the sequence of activities or the degree of student participation in the planning phase of the projects. Only students who participated in all stages of the planning phase developed their self-efficacy, intrinsic motivation, and civic awareness statistically significant.
