Application of product Life Cycle Analysis (LCA) to Primary school students: A sustainability education approach

Abstract

The goal of this study was to explore 5th grade students’ understanding about the Life Cycle Analysis (LCA) of products and how it changes after a relevant teaching with the use of new technologies. For this end, teaching materials and activities lasting 6 hours were developed and a specially developed tool for recording the stages and contents of the life cycle of a t-shirt was used for data collection, which was delivered before and after the intervention. Results revealed encouraging elements and aspects of participants' improvement regarding the understanding of the Product Life Cycle approach.
