Formation of a school yard with bioclimatic criteria. The case of the 27th Primary school of Thessaloniki
Abstract
The goal of this study was to investigate the impact of a teaching intervention on 6th grade students’ knowledge and perceptions about their bioclimatic schoolyard. The 23 participants were asked to draw an ideal bioclimatic schoolyard, before and after a three-week intervention. The elements drawn on the initial and the final drawings were classified, as to their use, into 11 categories. Qualitative and quantitative analysis of the data identified statistically significant differences in 5 categories. Although the results were not satisfactory as a whole, encouraging findings also emerged.
