Undergraduate primary school education students’ alternative ideas about the water footprint

Abstract

Human activities consume and pollute large amounts of water. The Water Footprint (WF) methodology can help individuals and governments better manage water. The purpose of this study was to collect information about the alternative perceptions of undergraduate students, from the Departments of Primary Education, about the WF. Survey data were collected through an electronic questionnaire, comprised of 9 Items, that was completed by 64 students. The students' responses were subjected to content analysis, with the unit of analysis being the unit of meaning. The content analysis revealed many alternative perceptions and misconceptions of students regarding the conceptualization of WF.
