Abstract

International research demonstrates that reading literacy determines significantly the degree of human involvement in the age and society in which he lives and works (Koutsouraki, 2006), while low reading ability is a risk factor for negative self-esteem, behavioral problems, school abandonment and unemployment (Vamboukas, 2004. Koliiadis, Mylonas, Koumbias, & Varfi, 2002. Polychronopoulou, 1985, 2010. Panteladoudou & Botsas, 2007.). It is therefore very important to detect student’s difficulties in the early reading, in order to prevent the child's school failure and the creation of behavioral and emotional problems. In the second grade of elementary school the child must have acquired the basic reading mechanism, read accurately, understand small verbal groups and individual words or small texts in order to acquire information and perform various activities (Ministry of Education, III, 2003). Therefore, the purpose of this article is to highlight the problems of the reading process experienced by many students today in the Primary School.
