A Didactical Intervention on Exoplanets from the Perspective of the Nature of Science

Abstract
Although the importance of understanding the nature of science has been emphasized by numerous studies, it has not yet been effectively integrated into the school curriculum. The purpose of this study is to investigate whether a didactical intervention of astronomy lessons can influence students’ conceptions of the nature of science. The intervention explores the Venus transit, the occultation of Betelgeuse by the asteroid 319 – Leona, and concludes with the detection of exoplanets using the transit method. This paper presents the structure of the lesson series along with the findings from a preliminary implementation conducted with elementary school students.
