Abstract

The purpose of this paper is to investigate the level at which the key features of the New Generation Science Standards are included in the content of the first-grade biology textbooks on human reproduction. Fifteen units of analysis that constitute the content of the textbook and laboratory guide of the first-grade high-school biology on reproduction in humans were analyzed by using a rubric. The analysis revealed that most features of these standards are included at a low level in the content of the textbooks. These findings highlight the need to redesign this instructional material used to teach human reproduction.
