Why are Scientists in the Field of Science Education Trying to Enrich the Current Agenda of the Nature of Science? An Epistemological Approach

Abstract
The field of the Nature of Science (NOS) within Science Education is currently being enriched with elements from the specialized epistemologies of different sciences, following the principle of family resemblances. This study demonstrates that such enrichment addresses an epistemological problem in the field, specifically related to its heuristic power. More precisely, this enrichment enhances the heuristic capacity of the field by allowing its object of study to remain open and dynamic. However, the way it has been done so far multiplies the difficulties and challenges that the traditional consensual approach has faced.
