Global Citizen: An Experiential Journey into Sustainability
Abstract
This paper presents a Kindergarten "School Activity Program" focused on Sustainability, aiming to foster environmental awareness and active citizenship. Based on the Curriculum "Environment and Education for Sustainable Development," the program promotes environmental literacy and social responsibility. Through a holistic and interdisciplinary approach encompassing pedagogical, social, and environmental dimensions—and with an emphasis on the 17 Sustainable Development Goals—international awareness days were utilized as educational tools. Collaborative learning, inquiry-based activities, and problem-solving techniques encouraged an ecological mindset and critical thinking among participants. The findings highlight that inquiry-based learning, facilitated through collaborative and participatory practices, effectively fostered an ecological mindset among all participants.
