Abstract

This research concerns the study of the role of art in education with an emphasis on painting museum education approach. More specifically, the purpose of the research was to examine and analyze the achievement of learning through the educational activity of a museum. The research was carried out at the Museum of Education of the University of Athens for the academic year 2014-2015. The paintings were from six- Up to eight years old and gathered at the end of the academic year with a total of 904. The findings from the research show that 62.6% of the paintings agree with the success of this form of art in conjunction with education. This percentage has been analyzed and interpreted on seven themes which shows the impact of Learning visit the Museum of Education. Through this educational activity it was observed that the students employ a combination of knowledge and imagination to capture what they learned but also through the paintings that they were able to express their thoughts and feelings, thus giving new meaning to what they were taught. In conclusion, the painting is necessary to incorporate as an artistic activity of children in the wider context of education in schools and museums. It is a versatile expressive work of students enables them cognitively, emotionally, creatively and socially.
