Abstract
Acquiring a child is one of the most important experiences in a person's life. Parents expect the "dream child", but usually the child being born is far from parenting expectations. The greater the distance from them, the greater the disappointment. Especially when this child does not respond to "normal" and belongs to people with autism, then parents experience failure. The majority of parents who are confronted with an autism report for their child are entering a new, painful condition. From the original question, "What does my child have? Will it be cured? "Until the statement" My child has autism ", parents are going through a huge journey. Alone, without substantial help, and trying to adjust the new facts of their life make choices concerning their child. Directing, setting steady steps, putting realistic goals and finding solutions and choices on issues of social adaptation of the family, finding a suitable educational framework, etc. Are critical issues that concern parents. The necessity of counseling these parents, which will not only provide good information but will support and empower family members, turning the "problem" into "challenge", is highlighted.
