Abstract

Numerous studies in Greece and abroad demonstrate the importance of pre-school education and its beneficial action in various fields. The creation of kindergartens nowadays has moved away from the original reason of their founding, which was none other than the guarding of orphaned children and children of working mothers. Nursery schools today are the second family and first contact of children with "school life" and constitute a separate preparatory part of their subsequent course. As it is known, the shape of the children's character has as its beginning the infant age and not the pre-school as presumed in the past. Nowadays the above position has a particular impact on parents, creating more and more expectations for pre-school education structures. The purpose of this research is to give a kind of "step" to the parents of pre-school children to express their views on both the kind of services provided and the services that are provided through the municipal nurseries. In the context of the above study, conclusions will be drawn on the importance that parents and guardians themselves attach to the education or care that their children receive in such pre-school centers.
